A New York-based arts writer and editor for more than twenty years, Karen has been an art critic for The New York Times and has covered art for many other publications, including New York Magazine, Artforum, and Frieze. Whether analyzing an exhibition or interviewing an artist she enjoys connecting with readers and helping them get the most out of their art experiences. She is excited to approach the art world from a traveler's angle as Artful's first Editorial Director.
Karen holds an MA in Modern Art and Critical Studies from Columbia University and a BA in English from Yale. As a longtime art journalist she has attended many art fairs and festivals in different cities, including the Venice Biennale, Art Basel Miami Beach, and Frieze Los Angeles. Other memorable destinations she has visited include Montreal, the desert Southwest, and the Tuscan countryside.
