Tobias W. Welo
After a successful twenty-year career in investment management, including thirteen years as an award-winning portfolio manager, analyst, and sector leader at Fidelity Management and Research in Boston, Tobias founded Artful in 2019 to focus on his lifelong passion for art and travel. He grew up surrounded by art in Villanova, PA (attending school next to the original home of the Barnes Foundation), influenced by his mother, a Parsons School of Design graduate, and his aunt, an artist whose paintings covered the walls of his childhood home.
For over the past decade, he and his wife, Kristin Welo, (Director of Human Resources and Artful Impact) have been building their own art collection; they focus on female artists, including Mary Heilmann, Harmony Hammond, Katherine Bradford, Jenny Holzer, Jennie C. Jones, Rose B. Simpson, Rita Ackermann, Torkwase Dyson, Analia Saban, Marina Rheingantz and Wangechi Mutu.
Tobias has traveled to more than fifty countries; among his favorite trips taken are a family R.V. excursion to the U.S. national parks, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, and attending art fairs and biennales everywhere!
