This January, join the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art on an exclusive 4-day trip to Los Angeles, led by Executive Director Jessica May. The excursion will feature programming from PST Art—a series of exhibitions and public events throughout Los Angeles exploring connections between art and science, and how this convergence can help us address some of the most urgent problems of our time. Kemper patrons will enjoy curator-led tours of exhibitions with themes related to Indigenous knowledge, the climate crisis, and novel approaches to environmental activism. Throughout, we will get to know the best of LA's contemporary art scene through exclusive receptions at galleries, artist studios, and private collections, with a focus on underrepresented artists. Private visits to mega-galleries like Hauser & Worth will be complemented with visits to galleries known for their rosters of emerging and mid-career talent, like Various Small Fires and Nazarian / Curcio.
A particularly special visit to the private collection of Shulamit Nazarian, co-founder of the eponymous gallery Nazarian / Curcio. Our studio visits will be equally sensational and will include the likes of Catherine Opie, Amir Fallah, and Ken Gun Min.
Our meals will feature a combination of fine dining and casual, laid-back bites, all while embracing the diversity of LA's culinary landscape. Venues will be announced closer to the trip and will include some of Los Angeles' hardest-to-book restaurants, like the elegant a. o. c. wine cellar, Hauser's Manuela, and the effortlessly chic Osteria Mozza. Other meals will tend towards the more casual, like K-Town favorites and catered museum lunches.
Guests will stay at the Prospect Hollywood, a luxurious 4-star property housed in a 1939 Hollywood Regency-style building. Dubbed by Condé Nast "the perfect hotel," the Prospect offers top-notch amenities and convenient access to the city's premier galleries, collections, and dining.

The Getty Center is one of the world's largest cultural and philanthropic institutions dedicated to the visual arts. Getty was established by businessman and art collector J. Paul Getty, who viewed art as a civilizing influence in society and his bequest enabled the creation of the Trust. The Trust sought to establish an institution that served all facets of the art world, including research, display, conservation, publishing, grants, and education. The Trust constructed the Getty Villa in Pacific Palisades and the Getty Center in Brentwood, expanded the collections of the Museum, and created the Getty Conservation Institute, the Getty Research Institute, and the Getty Foundation, forming the organization we now call Getty.

Catherine Opie (b. 1961) is an American fine art photographer whose work primarily explores community, identity, and judgment.Working between conceptual and documentary approaches to image making, Opie examines familiar genres—portraiture, landscape, and studio photography—in unexpected compositions by pursuing radically different subject matter. She investigates the ways in which photographs both document and give voice to social phenomena in America today, registering people's attitudes and relationships to themselves and others, and the ways in which they occupy the landscape.
