Asian Art & Culture in LA

Join Asian Art Museum curator Yoon-Jee Choi and fellow patrons on an exploration of Asian art in Los Angeles, featuring a VIP KCON add-on opportunity (subject to availability). Two full days of immersive arts programming, combined with culinary adventures and exclusive studio and collector visits, will acquaint you with the best of LA's diverse cultural landscape.

This program will begin with a cocktail reception on July 24th and conclude before dinner on the 27th. We will be treated to curator-led tours of established Asian art collections, like those at the Huntington and the USC Pacific Asia Museum, and will enjoy special receptions at cutting-edge galleries of contemporary Asian art, like Gallery Koen and Nazarian / Curcio. We will also visit ICA LA's landmark exhibition, Scratching at the Moon, the first focused survey of Asian American artists in a major Los Angeles contemporary art museum—closing just after our visit. Throughout, special focus will be placed on Korean artists, curators, collectors, and cultural leaders, which we will, in turn, contextualize within LA's broader contemporary art scene. Craft Contemporary will welcome us for a curator-led tour of artist Kyungmi Shin's solo exhibition, Origin Stories, and we will see a specially curated viewing room at Various Small Fires, known for its roster of emerging and established Korean artists. Curator, writer, and artist Alex Paik will welcome us to his studio and acquaint us with two of his Korean culture-focused projects: Tiger Strikes Asteroid, a non-profit network of artist-run spaces, and GYOPO, a collective of Korean and Korean American cultural producers.

We will stay at the Thompson Hollywood, a trendy and luxurious property within walking distance of many leading contemporary art galleries. Throughout, our dining experiences will match the quality and excitement of our arts programming, with laidback Koreatown bites and fresh and refined Californian cuisine. One dinner will involve a cooking class at LA Foodstory, featuring an Asian menu of our choosing. Additional meals at some of the following hot destinations: Daedo Sikdang, Chosun Galbee, Osteria Mozza, Funke Rooftop.

Our AAM LA patron experience is priced at $4,070 per person in a double room sharing and $4,620 for a single traveler, which includes all transportation, lodging, events, lunches and dinners during your trip. Two single travelers are welcome to share a room. This trip is limited to 20 guests and your booking is requested as soon as possible, but no later than May 15th.
