You are invited to join the Peabody Essex Museum on an exclusive trip to discover the art and culture of Venice. Four days of immersive art experiences and special visits, combined with cultural and culinary adventures, will acquaint you with the best of the 60th Venice Biennale.
This trip will begin on Monday May 13, 2024 with an after hours tour at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and will conclude with a Michelin Star dinner at Wisteria on Thursday, May 16, 2024. We will launch our trip with a special welcome from Karole Vail, Director of the Peggy Guggenheim collection, and explore the current exhibition with a private tour led by curator Gražina Subelytė. Lynda Roscoe Hartigan, the Rose-Marie and Ejik van Otterloo Executive Director and CEO with Trevor Smith, Associate Director - Multisensory Experience, and Curator of the Present Tense, will will lead a thoughtful tour of the Arsenale and Giardini of the 60th Venice Biennale, from a carefully curated selection of the most anticipated booths, including the US pavilion which is being tranformed by Jeffrey Gibson, the first indigenous artist to represent the US with a solo exhibition. Apart from the contemporary art of the biennale, we will visit Scuola Grande di San Rocco and Basilica dei Frari to marvel at the Old Master's such as Tintoretto and Titian. Our trip will also include a special half-day excursion to the island of Murano to witness first hand its glass blowing expertise. This will be complemeted by a studio visit with Murano glass artist Massimo Micheluzzi, known for his unique blend of Murano traditions with modern aesthetics. Our trip will be rounded out by major Venetian art institutions: Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana with a tour led by curator Anne Stenne, to explore a new exhibition featuring a large group of works, including a selection from the Pinault Collection. Our final day will be spent exploring Venetian art institutes including a tour of Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua, a historic workshop that creates luxury fabric with hand looms. PEM Director Lynda Roscoe Hartigan, and Trevor Smith, Associate Director, will lead this experience, enlivening the artistic and cultural landscape of this one-of-a-kind destination. This trip was planned with and will be accompanied by Artful Jaunts staff, who will ensure a effortless experience.
We will stay at the four-star Hotel Monaco & Grande Canal in Venice. The hotel was built in the early 1600s and located in the heart of Venice, a few steps from St. Mark's Square, its Basilica and the Doge's Palace. With its stunning view on the Grand Canal, it offers direct access through its exclusive and scenic "water gate". Our stay at the hotel will be an unforgettable experience.
Our patron experience is priced at $9995 per person in a double room sharing and $11595 for a single traveler which includes all ground transportation and water taxis while with the group, lodging, events, and all lunches and dinners during your trip. Two single travelers are welcome to share a room. This trip is limited to 15 guests and your booking is requested as soon as possible, but no later than March 1st, 2024. Reservations will be processed on a first come, first served basis. A minimum of 12 guests is required to operate this trip. Please note: breakfast, airplane flights, and airport transfers (water taxi) to hotel is not included. All programming may change and is subject to availability of hosts, collectors and artists.
No refund will be provided for cancellations within sixty days of the trip's start date. If the museum has another patron to fill a spot a substitution will be allowed. After the trip has commenced, no refunds are available, even if the client does not partake in all of the trip's activities or leaves the trip early. Check-in time at Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal in Venice is 3 PM. Check-out is at noon.We highly recommend trip insurance which is offered when booking.
