Join Christopher Jones, Stanton B. and Nancy W. Kaplan Curator of Photography and Media Arts at the Ringling Museum of Art, for a journey through Santa Fe's vibrant and varied artistic landscape. Nestled amongst the picturesque Sangre de Cristo foothills and known for its Pueblo-style architecture, Santa Fe's beauty has stolen the hearts of artists, art lovers, and adventurists alike. The city is home to some 300 galleries, many of which line a one-mile stretch of Canyon Road, and a small but mighty selection of world-class museums, each with unique collection strengths. This visit will coincide with the relaunch of the 12th SITE Santa Fe International Biennial, an exhibition of international art curated by Cecilia Alemani, which will commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of the show and the host museum.
Special visits to established institutions, like a private, curator-led tour of Georgia O'Keeffe's home and studio, will compliment private receptions hosted by local gallerists and collectors. We will be treated to a cocktail hour with Tonya Turner Carroll and Michael Carroll, leading gallerists of the Santa Fe art scene, as well as a tour of their newer, cutting-edge venue [CONTAINER]. SITE Santa Fe, which was also the co-sponsor of Jeffrey Gibson's American Pavilion at the 2024 Venice Biennale, will welcome us for an exclusive, curator-led visit of the 12th International Biennial. Both the Tia Collection and one of ARTnews' Top 200 collectors Jeanne and Michael Klein will host us at their private collections. Other arts programming will highlight the unique institutions, exhibition spaces, and curators that together support Santa Fe's history of Indigenous art production. Gallerist Andrea Fisher will welcome us for a live demonstration of Indigenous pottery practices, hosted at the eponymous Andrea Fisher Fine Pottery, and additional artist studio visits will awaken us to the diversity of the city's contemporary Indigenous art. Harmony Hammond, Rose B. Simpson, Maja Ruznic, and Patrick Dean Hubbell are just four of the many artists who call New Mexico home.
Such exquisite art is best paired with equally divine dining, and we are thrilled to welcome you to cozy, private dinners in the city's hardest-to-book restaurants, like The Compound and The Anasazi Restaurant. We will stay at the luxurious Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi, a five-star property that blends Southwestern culture with first-rate amenities. The Rosewood Inn has consistently been named one of the premier luxury hotels in New Mexico and has earned the praise of Travel+Leisure, Condé Nast Traveler, and Forbes, among others. While some visits will take us out of the city center and into New Mexico's countryside, many will be within walking distance from one another; please be prepared for some travel by foot. On the morning of October 3rd, a hot air balloon ride to take in Santa Fe's beauty from above will be offered for an additional $350.

Since 1984, she has lived and worked in northern New Mexico. Hammond currently has an exhibition on view at SITE SANTA FE entitled FRINGE, which highlights a selection of her work from the last 10 years. Gibson is also a major supporter of IAIA Museum and University in Santa Fe. Gibson has provided students and mentors with a view of his career and the long trajectory to becoming the first Indigenous artist to represent the US at the Venice Biennale. Gibson's work fuses his Choctaw-Cherokee heritage and experience of living in Europe, Asia, and the USA with references that span club culture, queer theory, fashion, politics, literature, and art history. His multi-faceted practice incorporates painting, performance, sculpture, textiles, and video, characterized by vibrant color and pattern. As a non-collecting arts institution, SITE Santa Fe, explores and responds to the current cultural moment through innovative exhibitions and programs. The 12th International takes the title Once Within a Time, after a recent film by Godfrey Reggio, the legendary experimental filmmaker who has long resided in Santa Fe. "Inspired by Reggio's circular narratives, the 12th International places storytelling at its heart, with the aim of highlighting the lived experiences of several characters connected to the history of Santa Fe and its surrounding region. Conceived as a vast family album, Once Within a Time takes cues from the lives of a vibrant collection of Santa Feans, bringing together figures both historical and current, real and imagined, whose existential adventures step into dialogue with works of contemporary art."
